The 2023 GMC Acadia is a midsize SUV with big, bold styling and impressive family-hauling capability. It has three rows of seats, an available all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring, an optional V6 engine that pushes out more than 300 horsepower, and plenty of standard safety technologies. Let's take a closer look.
The 2023 Acadia is offered at four trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.
Engine and performance
Under the hood of the Acadia SLE and SLT is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It provides a good blend of responsive power and efficient fuel economy, in part thanks to its slick nine-speed automatic transmission. Optional in the SLT and standard in the AT4 and Denali is a 3.6-liter V6 rated at 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. It turns the Acadia into a capable tower able to handle trailers up to 4,000 pounds.
Most Acadia models have standard front-wheel drive and optional AWD. The exception is the Acadia AT4, which gets AWD by default, as it is the model most focused on off-road performance. Thanks to the available Active Ride Control suspension, the Acadia delivers exceptional ride quality and low body roll despite its high center of gravity.
Exterior styling and interior space
The 2023 GMC Acadia has the kind of road presence and curb appeal that just won't quit. With its large alloy wheels, ornate front-end grille, and large square shoulders, the Acadia's rugged exterior demands to be taken seriously. It gets a number of eye-catching paint options as well including Ultra Blue Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and Sterling Metallic.
The SUV's big exterior dimensions translate to excellent interior space. Second-row legroom is a generous 39.7 inches and the kids have plenty of space in the third row, too. With all the seats upright, you have just under 13 cubic feet of storage room in the trunk. Folding all the seats flat increases capacity to a mighty 79 cubic feet.
High-tech infotainment
Every new GMC Acadia features a high-resolution 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone compatibility. That's on top of five USB ports, a six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth® connectivity, satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Upgrading to the SLE adds built-in navigation and a BOSE® premium eight-speaker system, while going up to the AT4 unlocks a whole roster of impressive options, such as a head-up display and configurable driver information display. These come as standard equipment on the Denali along with wireless device charging.
Advanced driver assistance
Safety comes standard in the 2023 GMC Acadia. Every model has automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection capability, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, Teen Driver technology, automatic high beams, and lane keeping assistance. That makes the Acadia one of the best-equipped SUVs for safety, but the list doesn't stop there. As part of the Denali's Technology package, you can also have a rearview camera mirror, 360-degree camera system, and adaptive cruise control.
Sumptuous comfort amenities
When it comes to riding in comfort, it's tough to beat the GMC Acadia. Even at the lowest trim level, passengers are treated to three-zone automatic climate control and premium interior materials. The Acadia SLT has heated, 8-way power-adjustable front seats as well as remote start capability. The Denali has heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and memory settings. When fully equipped, the GMC Acadia packs luxurious features like a dual-pane powered sunroof and sumptuous leather upholstery.
